They shot themselves in the foot, an own goal and a penalty:(
Arshavins goal was quality but his fitness is getting bad, and he's injured himself.
I think Ferguson won't be too happy, they didn't look that strong as Arsenal won it for them.

Chelsea look strong, and Liverpool relied on Gerrard and Torres, I know they're both amazing players but after only a few games it looks like they're getting way too much to do.

As a Liverpool fan I am tired of people saying we rely too much on Gerrard and Torres. Last season they only started 11 games together in the Prem and look how close we were to winning it. Gerrard's form has been rubbish so far, even with the goal against Bolton, and despite scoring 3 in 3 Torres' form has been below par too yet we still have 2 wins out of 4. It's Johnson that's been our main man so far. However I do admit that we have had a shocking start to the season and really need to buck our ideas up if we're to finish 2nd or higher, which is what we should be aiming for.

I didn't see the Arsenal game but by the sounds of it they gifted Man U the points. I think everyone bar Man U supporters would have said Arsenal to win, so maybe the pressure of playing their first 'Big Game' of the season (and the first time they were favourites in a 'Top 4' game in a very long time) got to them.

I see your point but before the start of the season people were claiming it was going to be a battle between Liverpool and Chelsea on the idea that Gerrard and Torres could carry them, Liverpool could have lost again but Gerrard and Torres bailed them out. Last season I would have said their best player was Alonso and he's gone (I haven't seen enough of Aquilani to say whether or not I think he's going to be enough to fill the void). Johnson is having a great start and is looking strong but liverpool are going to need other players stepping up if Liverpool want to shed their two man team image, I know others like Carragher and Mascherano are quality players but even with Torres and Gerrard not at their best they're still bailing Liverpool out.

In summary, If either Gerrard or Torres get injured for a noticeable amount of time then I don't think Liverpool have a chance at title glory, but if both stay fit I think it's definitely attainable.

I completely agree with you. Each of our players need to step up. Reina and our defence are usually brilliant bu we've conceded 7 goals in 4 games so far. Carragher's not been his usual committed self and Skrtel has been a bit rocked by that first match head clash. Our midfield is missing someone who plays the simple passes with the loss of Alonso (who I agree was our best player last season and can not understand why Benitez let him go) and players like Babel, Lucas, Benayoun and Kuyt need tp up their game. Aquilani is injured (can't see why we bought an injured player) and is out for about a month I think. I do see why people percieve Gerrard and Torres to be the lynchpins to our team, because they are our two best players and are extremey important, but last season showed that if our other players can step up then we can get results without them. However so far this season, everyone bar Johnson has failed to step up and put in championship winning performances.

Babel, Lucas, Benayoun and Kuyt.
i've always thought these four(even lucas) have massive potential.
Benitez could use someone quick on the wing and there's few faster than Babel.

I've always rated Babel, even when he was at Ajax, but he just hasn't done it for Liverpool yet. At the minute all he can do is run and do a few tricks; there's no end product, be that a finish, a pass or a cross.

Other than his cross to Gerrard against real, his crossing is frustrating, if he could cross or do a good through pass as you said then Liverpool would have a lennon type player and If Johnson continues playing well offensively as well it will give them a lot of options for attacking.

Internationals coming, got tickets to the Wales vs Russia game and the player I really want to see is Injured:(

Ah that sucks, who's the player? I'd love to go and see England play. Heck I'd love to go and see Liverpool play but it's way too far and too much money. I've seen my local team (Plymouth Argyle) quite a few times and it's been great. I have a long life ahead of me to do all that though.

I agree with Itagaki about the Big 4 staying the same, but it'll be close. The way Man City are playing it's hard to say that they won't be in the top four, but I still think that they'll be 5th/6th. Tottenham are also going to challenge closely, then there's Everton and Villa, and there's always a surprise team. It's looking to be extremely close up at the top this season, for a change.

We've got Michael Owen and Ryan Giggs. How dare you suggest Manchester United would lose to Arsenal, when we have those two, PLUS Paul Scholes. Some people... ;)

I havent seen enough of the other games this season to predict the best 4 teams, but judging from Manchester City's team they might be pretty tough this season.

Also, Mitas, does that Aviva advert annoy you like it does everybody else? [/plymouth argyle reference]

It annoys me to no end because we don't speak like that :P Well the majority of us don't anyway. It was funny the first time but now everyone shouts 'Green Army' and greets eachother by saying 'Alright me Janner' and it's getting on my nerves lol
